Chief Secretary orders speedy completion of multi-level car park in Panjtirthi

SRINAGAR: Chief Secretary, Dr Arun Kumar, Mehta today spearheaded the acceleration of works on the multi-level car park at Panjtirthi to ensure its completion by August 15, 2022.

He conveyed these instructions during a meeting to review the progress of the construction of a multi-storey car park near Baba Lal Ji Temple on Panjtirthi Circular Road at DC Jammu office.

The meeting was attended by the additional chief secretary of finance, the principal secretary of the housing and urban development department and other officers. Divisional Commissioner Jammu and other officers attended the meeting via video conference.

The ramp-based multi-level car park project of the Jammu Municipality Corporation aims to meet the need for parking spaces to decongest the traffic on the roads of Jammu city.

While reviewing progress, he ordered that coordinated efforts be put in place to ensure the facility is completed immediately and dedicated for public use.

The Rs 30.00 crore multi-level car park would have four levels of parking in addition to two basements, a plot and a terrace reserved for the parking of around 250 vehicles with 33% for SUVs and 136 two-wheelers.

The Chief Secretary also reviewed the operation of the multi-level parking scheme at General Bus Stand Jammu and urged the officers to ensure optimum utilization of the facility.

He also ordered vehicles found wrongly parked on the road to be towed/seized to ensure the decongestion of roads in markets for the convenience of the public.

He said improper parking, which is a major cause of traffic disorder on the roads, would not be tolerated and any negligence by officers in this regard would be taken seriously.
