Dates for Free Parking in Chester City Center in 2022

Free parking is offered to shoppers and visitors to Chester city center in two car parks on 15 dates throughout 2022.

The Chester Race Company initiative, in partnership with Chester BID, will see hundreds of parking spaces provided free of charge at Nicholas Street Racecourse and Linenhall car park.

Free parking will be available every last Sunday of the month and every Sunday following a Saturday race meeting during the season.

This will be the fifth year in a row that the racecourse has offered free parking in a bid to increase the number of visitors to the town.

The offer was originally only at the racecourse, but it has grown so much in popularity that new spaces have been released at the Linenhall car park in 2019.

The two sites offer nearly 800 places in total.

Emily Ghazarian, Marketing and Events Manager at Chester BID, added: “We are delighted to be working with Chester Race Company to once again offer visitors to the city a free parking space once a month.

“It makes a day out in Chester much more affordable for those traveling by car to the city centre.”

Earlier this month we reported that plans had been tabled to redevelop the Linenhall car park near St Martin’s Way, once intended for student accommodation, to make it a permanent feature.

The car park is currently operating on a temporary arrangement.
