New car park for Gisborne and Riddell Creek stations

Passengers taking the train at Gisborne and Riddells Creek stations on the Bendigo line will soon be able to take advantage of improved and expanded parking.

Work is underway to provide 100 improved parking spaces at Gisborne Station. The modernized car park will include four accessible parking spaces and 15 bicycle racks. The car park will be extended from the existing car park on the north side of the tracks and will replace the gravel area currently used for parking.

Passengers traveling from Riddells Creek station will benefit from 50 new parking spaces, including three accessible spaces and 10 bike racks. The new parking lot will be built to the east of the existing parking lot and accessible via Hamilton Street.

The Macedon Ranges Shire Council will also provide a new footpath to link the additional car park to the station via road improvements to Hamilton Street.

Works at both stations include the installation of lighting and CCTV for passenger safety, wayfinding signage, improved pedestrian access and landscaping.

Projects are delivered by VicTrack under the Commuter Parking Program.

Civil construction company Ace Infrastructure is delivering the parking lots on behalf of VicTrack, following a competitive tender. Ace Infrastructure has significant experience in providing station car parks and will also be supplying new and improved car parks at North Shore, Kyneton and Beaufort stations over the coming months.

Since 2014, 14,000 new and upgraded parking spaces have been delivered to metropolitan and regional stations across the state, with nearly 7,000 new and upgraded spaces to be delivered.
